What's In A Name?

I have been contemplating making some changes on my blog. Mainly, I've been thinking about making the switch over to Wordpress and redesigning my site (and when I say "I've" been thinking, that means I've been thinking of hiring someone else to take care of it all for me. I wouldn't have a clue how to even begin). Anyway, it's such an expensive undertaking and it makes me think, is it really worth it? It seems a little scary.
Having a nice, shiny new design on a sleek, new-to-me site would be cool for sure. But, if I'm going to take the plunge and switch, I better do it right and make everything just the way I want it. This brings me to my next conundrum...I kinda, sorta, maybe would like to change the name of my blog. That seems really scary!

My current blog name means something to me, personally. But, I find that when I say it to another person, it feels clumsy and difficult to explain. Will changing my blog name really be a big deal? I've had my Blogger blog for several years. If I change the name, will it feel like I'm starting at ground zero all over again? What exactly will I lose in the process?

So, dear bloggy friends, if you have any experience or thoughts on this issue, please share them in the comments below. I would love to hear what you think...

The switch to WordPress will be seamless for you when you do it, especially since you'll pay someone. I think it's really a smooth process these days! As for rebranding, that is getting easier and easier too. Go with your gut! I like your blog name, but I totally understand the desire to change it. I'm in the same place but haven't settled on the name yet. Good luck!

I like your name actually but I understand the desire to change and rebrand. I will be interested to see how it goes.

If you're going to switch to wordpress, it'd be a great time to change your name if you're going to. Then you can redirect your old blog to go to the new one... it is hard rebranding, but if you're going to do it, the sooner the better! Good luck!

I agree with the other ladies that rebranding would be better done sooner rather than later. I use Blogger myself and have contemplated switching to WordPress, so I would love to hear how you like it!

I am so glad I made the switch! I hired someone to do it. Since switching, I dislike using blogger...it seems clumsy and difficult. WP is so much easier to use! I love it! I wish I switched sooner.

Make the switch ASAP. There are so many people I've heard who have done it and it was seamless.
Rebranding is tricky. Just let everyone know ASAP so we can follow you on social media as your "new self."

Once you are on WP, you will love it! I have been using it since 2007 and wouldn't think to go to Blogger or any other free service. It's so much easier to customize and personalize!

I am glad that I changed from Blogger to Wordpress I also bought my domain name and hosting at the same time. I didn't rebrand though same name but without the blogspot address. Rebranding shouldn't be much trouble if you let people know the change of name and ask them to follow you at the new name.

Hello from SITS! :) I made the switch from Blogger to Wordpress a few months ago and I have never looked back :) My boyfriend works in IT so he was able to do all the domain and hosting stuff, but I did everything else all by myself! If you are not savvy on how to do it all it might be worth hiring someone to help/do it for you. Also there are hundreds of bloggers out there who are really skilled at design and rebranding who would be able to help you :)
