Movie Trailer Tuesday - The Way, Way Back

Welcome to "Movie Trailer Tuesday - my weekly blog feature where I share movie/dvd recommendations by posting a quick blurb and movie trailer for you to check out.

Have you watched any good movies recently? Feel free to share in the comments below...

blog

Duncan is a quiet and awkward teen who is constantly belittled by his mom's boyfriend, Trent. Forced to spend the summer at Trent's beach house, Duncan just wants to escape the unhappy situation. He secretly takes a job at a nearby water park. There, with the help of his zany boss, Owen, he finds friendship and a place to fit in. With Owen's encouragement, Duncan finally starts to come out of his shell.

I love this movie! It has such a great cast, including Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Sam Rockwell, and Allison Janney - all faves of mine. Duncan's situation is pretty sad and the movie broke my heart to watch at times. It was especially weird seeing Steve Carell play a not-so-nice character. But, in the end it was a very moving story - serious but also with moments of wit and humor that made me laugh.

Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, language, some sexual content and brief drug material

Flashback 80's Music Video - One Thing Leads to Another by The Fixx

I am a child of the 80's and it's funny because when I say "the 80's" I still feel like that was just a few years ago. Then I realize it was many years ago and I start to feel old.

To me, it doesn't get any better than 80's music. I remember the birth of MTV and how they played nothing but music videos (none of these lame reality shows that they have now). I can still hear the theme music and rocket blast-off that they used to always play. Anybody else remember that?...Please tell me someone knows what I'm talking about.

And, of course I thought the V-Jay's were just so cool.

Today, I thought I would share one of my very favorite songs from the 80's. It's on my iPod and one of the songs on my workout playlist. Music videos have sure come a long way since this, but I still gotta love it.

If you grew up in the 80's, tell me what songs you remember/like...

10 Things I Love

The other day I shared a list of 10 Things I Hate. I thought I should balance that out with some positivity. So, now I'm sharing 10 Things I Love. I've probably done this before, but, that's okay. Here goes...

1.    Bookstores. Better yet, used/secondhand bookstores
2.    Cloudy, grey sky days (my husband thinks this is so weird!)
3.    Blueberry waffles from The Waffle House (OMG so good!)
4.    Dogs. Especially puppies and big dogs
5.    Entering contests and giveaways (If you follow my Twitter feed you already know this)
6.    YA Dystopian fiction - it's my current fave genre to read and has been for awhile
7.    Ice water with lemon. It's what I drink most
8.    Going to bed early
9.    Elderly folks. I guess from my days as a nurse I have such a soft spot for them
10.  Thursday night TV. Grey's Anatomy, Parenthood, and Vikings all on the same night!

Okay, you know the drill. Tell me something you love...

#TargetSponsored "A Better Pharmacy Experience with Target" (with Giveaway)

All opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Target.
About once or twice a month, my teenage daughter and I head to Target for some shopping. Being the only girls in our family of six, a little retail therapy is just the thing for us to share. Sometimes we go with specific items to shop for, other times we go just to look around and see what’s new. There’s always something at Target that catches our eye. We both really love browsing all the books and DVDs and the women’s clothing section is fun as well. Another area that we always end up in is the health and beauty department – the cosmetic selection is fantastic!

On one of our recent Target trips, we were checking out the makeup and I happened to notice the nearby pharmacy. It occurred to me that I have never thought about using Target for my pharmacy needs. I decided to have a closer look and see what Target Pharmacy had to offer. Here’s what I learned – generic medications would cost me only $4 and they make prescription transfers a breeze. They have a pharmacy rewards program where you can receive 5% off a whole day of shopping after only 5 prescription fills. I can definitely appreciate that! I also learned that J.D. Power ranked Target Pharmacy “highest in customer satisfaction among Mass Merchandiser Pharmacies.”

To me, one of the best things about using the Target Pharmacy would be the convenience. Since I’m already going to be there, why not drop of my prescriptions first thing and then head out into the store to take care of my other shopping needs. They will even text me to let me know when my order is ready. That’s one-stop shopping at its best!

Now is the perfect time to fill your prescriptions at Target Pharmacy. During the month of April, you can earn rewards twice as fast with Double Credit Days! That's right...fill once, earn twice. And, vaccinations and pet meds count, too. Simply fill 5 prescriptions to earn a 5% off certificate good for one day of shopping at Target.

Have you had good experience with Target Pharmacy? I would love to hear about it.

10 Things I Hate

I saw this over at The Rantings of a Drama Queen's Mum (who saw it on Instagram) and I decided I had to borrow the idea. I've had a case of the grumpies lately so maybe it will help to vent a little bit...

1)    Being late. I would rather be one hour early than one minute late.
2)    The taste of any diet soda (I don't really like any sweetened drinks)
3)    When someone talks loudly on their cell phone in public
4)    Camping or any outdoor activity that involves "roughing it"
5)    Dusting -it's the worst household chore in my opinion
6)    Ok, who am I kidding? I hate ALL housecleaning in general
7)    Spicy foods
8)    Missing the previews and opening credits at the movie theater
9)    Being unorganized
10)  Cruelty to animals - you are seriously the scum of the Earth if you intentionally hurt animals

There's my list! Now, it's your turn. What's one thing that you hate?

Coming this spring!
