This one looks like it's going to be great! How ugly/cute are all these little creatures! Another one to add to my list of must-see movies in 2015.

Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects. Directed by Gary Rydstrom (“Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation,” “Lifted”) from a story by George Lucas, “Strange Magic” will be released by Touchstone Pictures on Jan. 23, 2015.

Movie Trailer and Fun Facts for #IntoTheWoods

I am sharing this information courtesy of Walt Disney Studios. No compensation of any kind was received for this post and all opinions expressed are my own.

If you're looking for something fun to do during the holiday break, why not take in a good movie.

INTO THE WOODS is now playing in theaters everywhere. This movie, which has been nominated for 3 Golden Globes including Best Picture, Best Actress Emily Blunt and Best Supporting Actress Meryl Streep, is rated PG and something I think the entire family can enjoy.

Check out the INTO THE WOODS movie trailer and some fun facts about the film and then let me know if you're as excited to see it as I am...

 Filmmaking Facts

- Production on “Into the Woods” began in September, 2013 at Shepperton Studios and on locations throughout England.

- Stephen Sondheim has received eight Tony® Awards, more than any other composer in history. He has won seven times: Best Music and Best Lyrics for “Company” (1971); and Best Score for “Follies” (1972), “A Little Night Music” (1973), “Sweeney Todd” (1979), “Into the Woods” (1988) and “Passion” (1994). His eighth honor was a 2008 Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.

- The foundation of the Woods set, built on Stage H at Shepperton Studios, was made up of 2,000 tons of soil, over 600 ferns, acres and acres of ivy and countless pallets of moss and turf.

- 95 percent of the trees used on the Woods set were real trees, which included 30-foot pine trees and hundreds of 25-foot oak tree branches, the leaves of which had to be removed and replaced with artificial ones (so they would last longer). The remaining five percent were full-sized whimsical trees constructed from plaster.

- There were four cows cast to play Milky-White. Their names were Tug, Diamond, Two Fold and Pearl.

- Rapunzel’s hair in the film is 20 feet long. The braid is made from real hair and weighs almost six pounds.

- The music for the film was pre-recorded over a two-week period at Angel Studios in London with a 56-piece orchestra, composed of some of the best musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra and London Philharmonic.

Book Blast - Cranberry Bluff by Deborah Garner (with GIVEAWAY)

Cranberry Bluff

Cranberry Bluff by Deborah Garner

Molly Elliott's quiet life in Tallahassee, Florida, is disrupted when routine errands land her in the wrong place at the wrong time: the middle of a bank robbery. Accused and cleared of the crime, she flees both media attention and mysterious, threatening notes, to move across the country to Cranberry Cove, where she has inherited her Aunt Maggie's bed and breakfast on the Northern California coast.

Her new beginning is peaceful - that is, until five guests show up at the inn for a weekend, each with a hidden agenda. Mix together one blushing honeymoon couple, one flamboyant boutique owner, a deadpan traveling salesman, and a charmingly handsome novelist, and there’s more than scones cooking at Cranberry Cottage Bed and Breakfast. As true motives become apparent, will Molly's past come back to haunt her or will she finally be able to leave it behind?

Author Deborah Garner
Deborah Garner is an accomplished travel writer with a passion for back roads and secret hideaways. Born and raised in California, she studied in France before returning to the U.S. to attend UCLA. After stints in graduate school and teaching, she attempted to clone herself for decades by founding and running a dance and performing arts center, designing and manufacturing clothing and accessories, and tackling both spreadsheets and display racks for corporate retail management. Her passions include photography, hiking and animal rescue. She speaks five languages, some substantially better than others. She now divides her time between California and Wyoming, dragging one human and two canines along whenever possible.

Nathaniel Stanton has a secret of his own --- one that has haunted him from birth and tied him to his father's position as steward of Willowgrove. To protect his family, Nathaniel dares not breath a word of the truth. But as long as the shadow looms over him, he'll never be free to find his own way in the world. He'll never be free to fall in love.

My Thoughts:
As with the other books in this series, I was immediately hooked. Sarah really has a way of drawing you into the story and making the characters all come to life. I have to admit I was instantly smitten with Nathaniel's character and could even imagine in my mind how he looked (very handsome!) This time period and genre is definitely one of my favorites to read - all of the chivalry and etiquette and proper manners just fascinate me. Cecily and Nathaniel both carried secrets and had hardships to overcome but they did so with dignity and strength (which is a testament to the way things were in those times). A Lady at Willowgrove Hall is a wonderful read and I highly recommend the entire Whispers On The Moors series by Sarah E. Ladd.

I Just Can't...

I don't know about you, but for me, there are some things that I just can't figure out. Things that baffle me, that boggle my mind. Things that make me go hmmm?

Image via Morguefile.com

What kind of things, you ask? Well, let me tell you....

1) I just can't...understand or enjoy football. I know, I know. It's one of America's beloved past times, loved by millions. I've tried, I really have, but I just can't grasp all the rules. My husband and I have been together for 27 years and he has wasted countless time trying to explain all the ins and outs of football to me and I still don't get it. Sure, I know that the object of the game is to get the ball all the way down the field and over the line. After that, I understand nothing. Why does the clock sometimes keep going when they appear to be doing nothing? Why does it look like they just move a few feet and then pile on top of each other? What does that accomplish? Why do they have to be so rough and how the heck do more people not get broken necks?  I'm sorry, but I just can't get into football.

2) I just can't...neatly fold a fitted sheet. Yeah, I've seen all those Pinterest pins and YouTube tutorials about "How to fold a fitted sheet in four easy steps" or "How to fold a perfectly neat fitted sheet" blah blah blah. I'm convinced it just can't be done.

3) I just can't...figure you out if you don't like dogs? Seriously? If you tell me "you're not a dog person" I'm immediately suspicious of you.

4) I just can't...get the timing right when cooking a big breakfast. It's a real talent to know when to start frying the sausage and cooking the eggs and grits and when to put the biscuits in and make the gravy and don't even get me started on how long it takes to fry bacon (which I prepare in the oven so that makes it a little easier) but anyway, trying to time it so they all get done around the same time. That's tricky stuff!

5) I just can't...comprehend how my 14 year old son can burp SO much and SO loud. I have 3 boys but the youngest...he is the king of belching. He can do it on demand. He can do it loud or in a rhythm or to a beat. He can do it multiple times in a row. It's really gross and I just wish he would stop.

I've fessed up, now it's your turn. Tell me something that you "just can't...."

Movie Trailer Tuesday - Austenland

Welcome to "Movie Trailer Tuesday - my weekly blog feature where I share movie/dvd recommendations by posting a quick blurb and movie trailer for you to check out.

Have you watched any good movies recently? Feel free to share in the comments below...

blog

Okay...I will say up front that this movie is not for everyone. It's kinda silly and goofy but I loved it and laughed out loud. A lot.

Having said that, there's no way my husband would've made it through 10 minutes of this movie (he probably couldn't even tell you who "Jane Austen" is so there ya go). If you don't know who Jane Austen is, then you might not appreciate this movie, either. If you are a fan of Jane Austen or of historical romance/comedy, then you will probably get a kick out of Austenland.

Jane Hayes is young and single and a HUGE fan of the classic novelist, Jane Austen. To say that she is a fan might be a bit of an understatement. She is obsessed with all things Jane Austen and her obsession gets in the way of any normal romantic relationship. When she decides to go on an authentic, immersive Jane Austen vacation experience, Jane is sure she will find the kind of romance that she has always wanted. But, after spending a little time in the Jane Austen era, she begins to rethink her entire attitude toward romance.

If you don't take Austenland too seriously, you will find that it is charming, light-hearted, and funny. It is a sweet story with lots of hilarious characters that will keep you laughing.

Rated PG-13 for some suggestive content and innuendo.

Movie Trailer Tuesday - Being Flynn

Welcome to "Movie Trailer Tuesday - my weekly blog feature where I share movie/dvd recommendations by posting a quick blurb and movie trailer for you to check out.

Have you watched any good movies recently? Feel free to share in the comments below...

blog

Being Flynn is based on the acclaimed memoir of poet/playwright Nick Flynn

While working in a homeless shelter, Nick (Paul Dano) encounters his long-absent father. The father, played by Robert De Niro, claims to be a world famous writer but in reality, seems to be a mentally unstable alcoholic. As Nick tries to find his own place in the world, the sudden appearance of his father brings much turmoil. Very emotional story and terrific acting by Dano and De Niro.

Rated R for language throughout, some sexual content, drug use, and brief nudity.

This Fall, I'm Drinking Pink with mike's hard lemonade #mymikesmoment

“I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for mike’s hard lemonade. I received a Circle K gift card to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.”

All opinions expressed in this post are my own.

As a mom of four, I stay pretty busy. I also help take care of my 76 year old mother. Between taking kids to and from school and activities, going to appointments, and going grocery shopping and running household errands, it feels like I'm always on the go. It's sometimes hard to remember I need to stop and take a break and enjoy a little time for myself.

One simple way that I like to relax and treat myself is by sitting on the back porch and enjoying a refreshing beverage like mike’s hard lemonade. Now that the cooler autumn evenings are starting to arrive, I enjoy inviting my good friend and neighbor (who also happens to be a busy mom) over for a chat and a cocktail. Sitting on the porch and sipping our mike’s hard lemonade is a great way to unwind and catch up with the things that are going on in our lives. We both have daughters who just went away to college so having that in common gives us lots to talk about.

Mike’s Hard Lemonade Co. is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary. They are best recognized for their iconic mike’s hard lemonade that uses real lemons – the whole lemon, including both the juice and the zest – which results in a very crisp and refreshing beverage. Right now, their seasonal flavor, mike’s hard pink lemonade is on shelves and available until Octoberish. Since 2009, mike’s hard lemonade has released this seasonal pink lemonade flavor each year to support breast cancer awareness and has contributed more than one million dollars to breast cancer research. That’s definitely a product that not only tastes great but one I can feel good about buying!

Another thing that makes it easy for me to enjoy mike’s hard lemonade is that I can pick it up on one of my regular trips to my local Circle K store. I live in a fairly small town and the Circle K store is located right in the center. I literally pass by there every time I’m out. It’s where I fill up my car with gas and a quick and convenient place to run in when I need snacks or staples such as milk and bread.

So, this fall, when I need to savor a moment for myself, I’ll be “drinking pink” and supporting a great cause at the same time.

Have you tried mike's hard pink lemonade? What's your favorite flavor?

Guilt-Free Snacking with Harvest Snaps

This post was created in partnership with Harvest Snaps. I have been compensated for this post. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

As a mom to teenagers, snacks are a big part of our daily lives. The kids want grab-and-go snacks that taste great. I want that too, but I also want to provide foods that are healthier than your average junk-food options.

I recently learned about a new line of snacks called Harvest Snaps - "chip-like" snacks that are made from whole lentils and whole peas.

I received a pack of Harvest Snaps in various flavors to try out.  I have to admit, I was somewhat skeptical. Would something made out of lentils and peas really be a hit with my picky teenagers?

After sampling all the flavors, I can say we are now big fans of Harvest Snaps. They look a bit like french fries but are crispy and light like potato chips. The flavors are good. Depending on which you choose, there are some that are quite zesty and others that are more mild. My favorite is the Tomato Basil Lentil Snaps. My kids like a little more zing so they really liked the Wasabi Ranch Snapea Crisps.

The Lentil Snaps are made from 65% whole lentil and have less fat, more fiber, and less sodium than regular potato chips. The Snapea Crisps are made from 70% whole peas and also have less fat, more fiber, and lower sodium than regular chips. The Snapea Crisps are also gluten free. As I mentioned above, they come in a variety of flavors so there is something for everyone.

Now, when my family is looking for tasty but healthier options for snacking, we can turn to Harvest Snaps. They will be perfect for lunchbox additions or just anytime that we want something tasty for munching.

Check out Harvest Snaps Lunchspiration microsite where you can make mix-and-match snappy lunches for a chance to win.
