I think the Evil-Appliance-Gremlin has taken up residence at our home. First, our washing machine went out (my wonderful parents bought me a new one last week). Then, the dryer went out (luckily my husband was able to fix that). Now, my vacuum cleaner just bit the dust. I was in the middle of cleaning the carpet when it started to make a loud noise, smell like something was burning, and then it died. Hmmph! We really do have bad luck with vacuum cleaners. Anybody have recommendations for a good one? I can't afford much right now - so, I'm looking for something around $200 max, and one that uses bags (my last two have been bagless and I haven't liked them at all, they seem to make a big mess).

OH, that just sucks. I go through vacuums like nobody's business. Well, I did until I put in hardwood floors. We still have carpet in all 3 bedrooms, so I don't have to buy vacuums as often.

Seriously the best vacuum I have ever bought is a Bissell for only $49.95 at Walmart. The last one I bought cost me almost 250 buckaroos and it was heavy and bulky. It did a good job for a while, but was a huge pain in the neck for me. I bought it because it was designed to be great for pet hair.

Anyway, I went back to my bissell and when I have to buy anew one it's not such a big deal cuz it's pretty inexpensive. However its' bagless.

Maybe you should just stop using appliances altogether..haha. Just a thought.

Hi Kari :)

I'm sorry about your rotten appliance luck :(

I use a Dyson and I know you said no bagless, but it has lasted 3 years and before I bought it I had to replace them once a year.

I was never good with vacuum cleaners too! For some reason they always conk out whenever I'm the one using them haha. Hope you find one that's a perfect match for you, and you'll be able to finally say goodbye to the evil appliance gremlin :) Thanks!
