Movie Trailer Tuesday - The Other End Of The Line

From Netflix:

Though she works half a world away in Mumbai, India, a credit card company operator passes herself off as American to callers. When she falls in love with a New York man over the phone, she agrees to meet him in person. They arrange for a rendezvous in San Francisco, where she keeps the truth about her identity a provocative secret. Shriya and Jesse Metcalfe ("Desperate Housewives") star in this charming romantic comedy.

This movie is so cute!  It's a sweet story with lots of laugh-out-loud moments.

Rated PG-13 for some suggestive material

Aloha Friday - Historical Figures

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day to take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So, on Fridays we can take it easy on blog posting, too.

I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, visit An Island Life where you can link up with your own question and also visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Tell me which historical figure (past or present) you would like to meet

I would like to have met Benjamin Franklin. He seemed to be not only smart, but charismatic and very well liked. And, I've read that he was quite fond of the young ladies. I bet he was a real character!

Random Things

*My daughter dropped her $200 iPod Touch IN THE TOILET! I'm so frustrated about that. She constantly has either her cell phone or the iPod Touch in her hands. It's become a real problem and hubby and I are thinking of instituting some new rules on hand-held devices in our house. Needless to say, the iPod Touch  is not working. It's doing nada, zilch, nothing.

*Sunday is my birthday! I'll be 29 (+12)...eck!

*I'm still in shock about this...I won an iPad in a twitter contest sponsored by http://www.mwave.com/. The iPad is awesome. I love it so much sometimes I just sit and hold it in my hands and stare at it, LOL!

*Last weekend I took a trip to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge TN with my mom and sister. We did a lot of shopping and a lot of eating. Friday night we settled in to the condo early (tired from all the driving, shopping, and eating). I went to bed at 7:30 pm and slept until 8:30 am. It was divine! I love sleep!

*I just bought a new fragrance that smells so good and is perfect for fall. It's called Fancy Nights by Jessica Simpson. Love it! And, the bottle is very pretty, too.

*Do you watch True Blood? I do and let me just make this known - I want to be MRS. Eric Northman! I'm not really a fan of Bill. This season has been kinda crazy. It's so bad and it's so good!

*Anybody fans of The Hunger Games book series? Did you get your copy of Mockingjay when it came out Tuesday? I bought two copies because my daughter and I were fighting over who got to read it first. But, I decided to go back and re-read Catching Fire before starting Mockingjay. This series is so great, I don't want it to end. It's probably my all-time favorite read EVER.

I recently had the opportunity to try out two of the pieces in the Hanes Smooth Illusions Shapewear line - the Seamless Waist Smoother and the Light Support Panty Hose. This is the Seamless Waist Smoother...

Let's be honest. Many of us can use a little help smoothing things out and sucking things in. My middle is my problem area for sure. The Hanes Smooth Illusions Seamless Waist Smoother goes on smoothly and easily and is actually quite comfortable. I love that the waist band does not roll; I've tried other shapewear in the past where that was a big problem. It really does a good job of helping you look more trim; I feel better about the way I look in my clothes. Here are some features of the Seamless Waist Smoother:

-seamless design for all over smoothing
-high waisted hidden band to prevent rolling
-extra firm control
-eliminates panty lines
-clothing compatible fabric makes clothes glide on easily

The Light Support Pantyhose were great as well. I rarely ever wear pantyhose, but, these would be a nice choice because they provide extra support in the tummy area as well as all-over smoothing from waist to toe.

At such affordable prices, these products are a great value. Hanes Smooth Illusions Shapewear is available at department stores nationwide. To find a retailer, visit http://www.haneshosiery.com/.

A Couple Things To Mention

Our 17 yr. old son bought his first car last week - a '99 Jeep Cherokee. He has a part time job at a grocery store and he's worked really hard over the past year to save money for a car. We chipped in a little bit to help, but, we are very proud of him.

We are totally redecorating our 14 yr. old daughter's room. She's getting new paint, furniture, and bedding. Here's a sneak peek - the wall color is called blue rosette from Porter Paints and the bedding set is from WalMart ($35 for the bed-in-a-bag set - what a bargain!). Now we just need to find some cute wall art and accessories.

Movie Trailer Tuesday - Everybody's Fine

Frank is a recent widower who is looking forward to having all his kids home for a much anticipated visit. At the last minute, plans fall through and they all end up canceling. So, Frank decides he will surprise them and sets out to travel across the country, visiting each of them. What he finds with each visit is not quite what he was expecting. He begins to question his relationship with the kids and the role he played as their father.

This movie is fantastic! Robert De Niro is amazing, as always. I literally cried (bawled!) throughout this entire film. The flashback scenes where Frank still sees his children as when they were young tore at my heartstrings. As a parent, it would be devastating to me if my adult kids were scattered throughout the country and basically out of touch with me. The movie really makes you take a look at family and how important it is.

Rated PG-13 for thematic elements and brief strong language

Recent Fave Finds At Etsy

Are you a fan of Etsy? I am. I could (and do) literally spend hours browsing at all the great things they have to offer. My favorites to window shop for are jewelry, artwork, and anything in the vintage category. Etsy is such a terrific place to find cool and unique gifts as well as fun items for yourself or your home. I thought I would share a few of my recent favorites...
***************************************************************

I love this Family Values Typography Word Art from barnowlprimitives.

This Wool IPod/IPhone Case from knotworkshop is so cute and colorful. I'm already thinking "perfect stocking-stuffer"

I've mentioned jewelry artist Andromedii before - her pieces are all fabulous. Check out these red garnet earrings - stunning!

This Little Fox Prince print by ThisYearsGirl is adorable. Wouldn't it be sweet in a little boy's room/nursery?

The recycled license plate art from recycledartco is awesome! I really want a piece for my boys' bedroom. Look at this Rustic Moose on Salvaged Wood -- too stinkin' cute!

I recently won a giveaway from lemondropstudio. I chose this sassy little Keep Calm and Pour Another print. The Keep Calm and Make Lemonade and Octopus Silhouette prints are fun, too.

What cool things do you like to shop for on Etsy?

~If you are an Etsy seller and would like to be featured and/or sponsor a giveaway on my blog, please email me. I would love to work with you!~

OH NO HE DIDN'T! TUESDAY - Out With The Trash

This is my first time participating in this fun Tuesday carnival that goes on each week over at 'Live and Love...Out Loud'. Here's the scoop:

Is your husband driving you nuts? Does your boss get under your skin? Welcome to “OH NO HE DIDN’T!” Tuesday, your come-and-tell-us-all-about-it headquarters! Let’s get this party started…

If you want to join in, simply write your own "OH NO HE DIDN'T!" post on your blog and then visit Live and Love...Out Loud to link up.

"OH NO HE DIDN'T!"
This actually happened a couple of years ago, but it still makes me say "OH NO HE DIDN'T!" every time I think about it. One morning I was going about my business and straightening up the kitchen. It was garbage day and I happened to hear the garbage truck outside and glanced out the window. I noticed the garbage man standing there going through one of our trash cans. I immediately started flipping out thinking our identity was being stolen right at that very moment! He took a box out of the trash can and put it in his truck. I went outside to try and figure out what the heck he was taking from us...that's when he said to me, "I hope you don't mind that I took all these Disney movies - my little girl will love them. Thanks!" Then he drove away.........I was too dumbfounded to know what he meant. I asked my husband about it and yes, he did indeed throw away a box of our classic Disney VHS movies. He thought that because we were now in the DVD age we didn't have use for them. He didn't realize that some of those movies are now out of print! I was very upset, but made myself get over it as best I could. At least some little girl out there did get some enjoyment from them.

Movie Trailer Tuesday - 17 Again

I have a confession to make...sometimes I like watching cheesy teeny-bopperish movies. It's true, I can't help myself. 17 Again is one of those that I really love. It's laugh out loud funny and it's heart-warming. I never understood the big fascination with Zac Efron - until I watched this movie. He is good!

Rated PG-13 for language, some sexual material and teen partying

The Thorn In My Side That Is Also Known As My Son Buying His First Car

Our oldest turned 17 in May. He's had his driver's license for several months now but he has yet to get his own car. We made an agreement with him that if he worked to save up X amount of dollars toward a vehicle, we would help him out and match his savings (plus Grandma offered to chip in a little bit as well). Well, the time has come. He's chomping at the bit to hurry up and find a car or truck to buy. Since it's his first car and he's still a new driver, we're looking for something used, fairly cheap, but dependable. Well, who would've thought but I swear it would be easier to find a needle in a haystack! My husband refuses to buy a used car off a car lot; he prefers to find something for sale by owner. We have emailed to inquire about vehicles on Craigslist (only to never have the seller respond back to us) and you just never really know about Craigslist anyway. We have went to look at cars that look pretty good in pictures but in person are actually nothing but junk. School starts next week and he REALLY wants to have something by then. Apparently it's a major social disaster to be a senior and not have a car to drive to school. I'm feeling the pressure and it's stressing me out! And, I don't even want to think about how much our auto insurance is going to go up. Again. You might remember I posted awhile back that after my son's fender-bender (in my car) and my husband's accident earlier this year, our car insurance nearly tripled. TRIPLED!  Oh, the stresses of raising a teenager!

What Brings You Joy?

Joy. Webster's Pocket Dictionary defines joy simply as gladness or delight. Many things bring me joy. There are the obvious things - like my children, my husband, our family, and our home. Those things are a given. But, other things delight me as well. Simple things. One of those simple things is the joy of reading a book. I have had a love of reading for as long as I can remember. When I was five years old, Santa Claus brought me a set of colorful hardback books that included such classics as Black Beauty, Heidi, and Alice In Wonderland. I thought they were beautiful! I treasured that gift of books so much, even at the young age of five. And, I still have those books, proudly displayed on my living room bookshelf.

As a child, my mom would often get up in the middle of the night to find me reading in my bed when I should have been fast asleep. I just couldn't help myself. I would say, "just one more chapter, Mom." My mom and I would take weekly trips to the public library. I couldn't wait to get there and see what books I might find and bring home. Wandering through the aisles, browsing at all the books. That brought me joy.

As an adult, reading continues to bring me joy. To me, there's nothing better than choosing a book - whether it's by the story description in the book jacket, or the beautiful and interesting cover. It's a way to escape life's daily little stresses. Reading can take me anyplace I want to go. I can become anyone I want to be. If only for a little while. Reading can fill me with hope and excitement. It can also move me to tears or even make me afraid. No matter what, it always leaves me with a feeling of accomplishment.

In today's age of technology, many are turning to e-readers of one type or another. While I think that this is a fun and unique option for reading, I will still always prefer to hold an actual book in my hand; to dog-ear the page corner to mark my place. The thrill as I turn the book's page is too great for me to consider going digital in that department.

Reading books truly brings me joy!

Waterpik Medallion EasySelect Showerhead - Review

I recently had the opportunity to try out this Waterpik Medallion EasySelect Showerhead. It's a massaging showerhead that can be used in the mounted or hand-held position. As soon as we received it, everyone in my house was excited to try it out. My husband quickly installed the showerhead - he said it was a breeze to install and had it up and running in about five minutes. The spray selector is located right on the handle and designed so that it's very easy to change - just turn the dial to your setting choice. There's no reaching into the water stream to try and adjust the setting. There are five custom spray settings:
1.Full-Body Spray (which is our favorite)
2.Powerspray
3.Water Saver
4.Circular Massage
5.Mist (I love this setting when I'm using the showerhead in the hand-held position. The hot water mist leaves your skin feeling revitalized and tingly; it's like your very own spay treatment. Very nice!

The Waterpik Medallion EasySelect Showerhead has a flexible 5-foot hose and is also equipped with OptiFlow, which provides up to 30% more water force. I was impressed with the size of the shower head - it provides such a wide, big flow of water. It reminds me of standing under my own mini-waterfall. Everyone in our house loves this showerhead. My kids actually want to run to the shower each night.

There are many different types and models of Waterpik showerheads to choose from. For more information, visit the Waterpik website.

Movie Trailer Tuesday - Lost In Translation

I'm normally not a Bill Murray fan, but, I did enjoy this movie. It's a sweet and sad story about two people who are both a little bit lost in their lives.

Rated R for some sexual content.

Flashback 80's Music Video - Rock The Casbah

How about another video flashback for all you 80's music fans. I think this was out around the early 80's - I was just a tweeny-bopper and remember watching this one on MTV. Loved the song and loved the lead singer, too! Doesn't this just make you want to get up and jump & dance around?
