Emilia falls for her handsome (and oh, yes...he's very handsome!) but married coworker, Jack. She soon finds herself becoming "the other woman." After Jack divorces his wife, he and Emilia marry and begin a new life together. It's a difficult journey as Emilia struggles to bond with her stepson and get along with the ex-wife. And, when tragedy strikes, everything really begins to fall apart.
This was such a poignant story; it just broke my heart. Natalie Portman did a great job playing Emilia. While she seemed somewhat cold and aloof on the outside, you just knew she was sad and broken and vulnerable on the inside. I loved Lisa Kudrow as the bitter and demanding ex-wife. The best part of the story for me was the relationship between Emilia and her stepson. The little boy doesn't make things easy for Emilia and she is pretty lost about being a parent to him. But, in the end, they come to terms with each other and start to develop a real bond.
